Anjum Shaikh

Anjum Sheikh leads the Right to Pee Campaign in Mumbai’s M East and L Wards, where she works to make sanitation accessible, safe, and dignified for nearly five lakh people. Beginning her journey as a volunteer at CORO India, Anjum is now a key member of the organisation. She was a finalist for the CII Foundation’s Women Exemplar Award in 2020. Based in Bainganwadi, Govandi, she is passionate about storytelling through film and photography.

Darshana MAyekar

Darshana Mayekar is a filmmaker and homemaker from Vashi Naka, Chembur, who sees her two identities as deeply intertwined, one shaped by storytelling, the other by care and service. She has been associated with CORO India for four years and, through her work with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s Slum Sanitation Programme (SSP), has engaged at the intersection of community hygiene, local accountability, and women’s dignity.

Gauri Rane

Gauri Rane is a leader with the Eknishtha Mahila Mandal, where she works to collectivise women through self-help groups and strengthen community solidarity. She is currently part of CORO India’s Grassroots Leadership Development Programme and captains her award winning all women kabaddi team. Along with community work, Gauri is a dancer and has a growing interest in cinematography.

Supriya Jan

Supriya Jan is a senior practitioner who has been associated with CORO India for over eighteen years, working across grassroots campaigns on gender equity and urban planning. Earlier a core campaigner with the Right to Pee Campaign, she now leads CORO’s knowledge-building initiative, which focuses on documenting and sharing grassroots knowledge across Maharashtra and Rajasthan. In recent years, she has been advancing collaborative, co-creative approaches to knowledge-building, using tools such as filmmaking and sound ecologies to centre community perspectives.

Kiran Khanderao

Kiran is a social worker with over eight years of experience in the development sector. She works on issues of sanitation, women’s empowerment, disability inclusion, community mobilization, and leadership development, and advocates for safe, accessible, and gender-sensitive sanitation for all. She has played a key role in strengthening community-based organisations and nurturing local leadership for sustainable and inclusive social change. Kiran holds a Master’s degree in Social Work in Disability Studies and Action, as well as a Master’s degree in Population Studies from the International Institute for Population Sciences.

Usha Deshmukh

Usha lives in Vashi Naka, where she first-hand experienced what it means to grow up without a washroom. Since joining CORO India's Right to Pee Campaign in 2018, she has been at the forefront of making sanitation a matter of dignity and rights. She has been part of the Slum Sanitation Programme, supporting the community-led management of toilets through MoUs with Mahila Mandals and local organisations. Most recently, she has received a one-year fellowship to work on domestic violence, carrying her commitment to women's safety from the streets and public spaces of Mumbai into the heart of the home.

Manoj Sable

Team leader at Right To Pee campaign 

Manoj is a community organiser from Bharatnagar, Vashi Naka. As Team Leader for CORO India's Right to Pee Campaign, he coordinates across four wards, holding together the logistics, relationships, and momentum that a city-wide campaign demands. Before joining CORO, he worked with the Reliance Foundation, where he developed the field instincts and organisational skills he brings to everything he does. On ‘Mast Mahila Mandali’, Manoj was the quiet engine behind the production, ensuring that the ten women directors had everything they needed, every step of the way.

Tanushree Das

Tanushree Das graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune with a Diploma in Film Editing in 2011. Since then, she has collaborated with acclaimed directors such as Kamal Swaroop (Rangbhoomi, 2014), Gitanjali Rao (Chai), Prateek Vats (A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings), among others. Her work as an editor has been showcased at international film festivals including Locarno, Rotterdam, Rome, Pingyao, Hot Docs, and Busan. Her debut feature film, Shadowbox (2025), was selected for the 75th Berlin International Film Festival.

Anita Kushwaha

Anita Kushwaha is a sound designer working across the Hindi film industry and the non-fiction space. She is known for her work on films such as Ghanchakkar (2013), Court (2014), and Nagrik (2014), as well as acclaimed documentaries including The World Before Her (2012) and Terror in Mumbai (2009), among others.

Mahak Gupta

Colorist

Mahak Gupta is a senior colorist and educator. She started her career in 2010 as a data manager and on-set editor during India's celluloid-to-digital transition, a background that informs her meticulous approach to post-production workflows. Her notable works include Achal Mishra’s Gamak Ghar (2019) and Shaunak Sen’s All That Breathes (2022), Shoebox (2022), The Mirror in Lust Stories 2 (2023), Indi(r)a’s Emergency (2023), All India Rank (2024), Waack Girls, Rapture, Dhuin, among other films. Mahak is also an educator, and conducts color grading and digital imaging workshops for cinematography students across India.

Niv

Post Production Co-ordinator

Niv (they/them) is a visual artist and filmmaker based in Mumbai. Their work spans documentary, digital media, and research, and is grounded in feminist and social justice frameworks. Their film ‘City of Mirage’ (2023) emerged from conversations around migration, queerness, and everyday life, and was shortlisted for Dimensions Mumbai at the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival. They also directed ‘On the Right Track’ (2024), a short film exploring the rhythms of Mumbai’s railway system alongside broader socio-political shifts, and was involved in all aspects of its production.

Kavita Ghuge

Kavita Ghuge from Bharatnagar, Vashi Naka, came to CORO India the way many transformative things begin, through play. A kabaddi match organized under the Right to Pee Campaign became a doorway into advocacy, sisterhood, and eventually, filmmaking. A domestic worker by profession, she carries into her art the same endurance and presence that defines her everyday life. An avid creator of social media reels, Kavita has transformed a pastime into a passion, often approaching her documentation with a critical and thoughtful eye.

Kavita Gulabrao Khomne

Kavita Gulabrao Khomne is the Chairperson of the Stree Dattaguru Mahila Mandal, where she oversees the maintenance and upkeep of their local community toilet. She has been associated with CORO India for five years, working on issues of women’s property rights. Deeply curious and eager to explore new worlds, Kavita has found her love in filmmaking and is ready with her next film idea.

Nazneen Siddiqui

Nazneen Siddiqui was a reporter before she moved to social work. A resident of Vishnu Nagar, Chembur, she has been associated with CORO India for four years. Nazneen has stood at the forefront of protests for water rights and women’s rights, including direct action against the local municipality. She enjoys riding her bike across the city and brings a keen journalistic eye to her filmmaking.

Rehana Altaf Sheikh

Rehana Altaf Sheikh is an entrepreneur, patient care worker, and dreamer. An integral part of CORO India’s Grassroots Leadership Development Programme, she has long channelled her energy into community and care. Rehana is a passionate dancer who brings a dynamic spirit to her filmmaking, exploring new creative possibilities. She lives and works in Bainganwadi, Govandi.

Rohini Kadam

Rohini Kadam is a senior social worker and leads the Right to Pee Campaign. With training in comprehensive sexuality education, she has been associated with CORO India for fifteen years, offering her expertise in community empowerment, disability inclusion, livelihoods, advocacy, and field-based research. A resident of Bainganwadi, Govandi, she loves sports and is referred to as ‘captain’ in her area.

Sheetal  Navale

Sheetal is an Arogya Sevika, a frontline community health worker who works door to door across Mumbai’s most underserved neighbourhoods. A resident of Sahyadri Nagar, Chembur, she is also part of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s Slum Sanitation Programme and has been associated with CORO India for four years. Sheetal enjoys dancing, making reels, and travelling with her friends.

Shilpi Gulati

Shilpi Gulati is a filmmaker, educator and scholar working at the intersections of documentary, feminist pedagogy and community media. A national award winning filmmaker with over fifteen years of experience, she has worked closely with the social sector, training community leaders in using low cost media for field research and finding self expression. A resident of Deonar, Govandi, she is currently a faculty member at the School of Media and Cultural Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences.

Vaishali Mane

Vaishali Mane is a social worker from Mumbai who has been associated with CORO India for the past four years. A former teacher with a love for learning and an instinct for helping others, she works across five areas of the M East Ward, championing women’s property rights in Maharashtra. Her work focuses on equipping women with the knowledge to claim, access, and retain property, making it both legal and deeply personal.
